In this Tlingit legend, Raven is flying over the world covered with water. As he flies Raven sees a beautiful Fishwoman swimming along in the sea and begins to talk to her. Infatuated, Raven falls in love with her and asks her to marry him. Fishwoman explains that she will only marry him on the condition that he creates land so she can have human form and not have to swim all of the time and also that she may dry her hair in the wind. So Raven sets out to get sand from the bottom of the sea to create land. He firsts asks Seal if he would bring him sand from the sea bottom and Seal asks for a reward. Raven agrees to grant him a wish. Seal asks Frog for his help and fills up a frog skin with sand and delivers it to Seal, who then gives it to Raven. Raven flies up high in the air, dropping sand. Wherever it falls land is formed. As a reward for their help, Raven give Seal fur and grants Frog as keeper of the Earth's treasures.
