In this Tlingit legend, Raven is flying over the world covered with water. As he flies Raven sees a beautiful woman swimming along in the sea and begins to talk to her. Infatuated, Raven falls in love with her and asks her to marry him. The woman explains that she will only marry him on the condition that he creates land so she can have human form and not have to swim all of the time and also that she may dry her hair in the wind. So Raven sets out to get sand from the bottom of the sea to create land. Raven flies up high in the air, dropping sand. Wherever it falls land is formed.
